It is with the heaviest of hearts that we inform you of the passing of one of our greatest youth coaches and advocates. Gene Cotter passed away on Monday in a car accident on Highway 156. He was a beloved Little League coach for the last 2 years and has been coaching basketball in our community for many years. You may recognize the Basketball Jones camp that he so passionately put on each year. Gene was one of the happiest, friendliest, most positive human beings anyone could ever meet. He was a beautiful free spirit that loved people. He especially loved kids and had a tremendous kindness and positive approach in the way he coached. He generously gave his time and knowledge of basketball and sports to all kids at any time. Our community and our youth have lost one of the brightest shining lights of positive energy that has ever lived. He graced us with his wonderful outlook on life and the world is a better place for it. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Cotter family and we send our sincerest condolences to them. Rest In Peace Gene.
